Thursday 17th - Sunday 20th October 2019

Our first visit to Girona, Catalonia (Spain) was in October 2017.  It was so successful that we have run two further trips and will again be visiting in October 2019.  The trip is for sixteen people and will be led by our lovely instructor Patsy, who many of you will know.

If you’ve never visited Girona before, expect to find a vibrant city with a pretty historic quarter full of cobbled lanes, medieval walls, shops and churches.  You will be staying right on the edge of the old quarter, near the river Onyar which slices through the heart of what is Catalonia’s second largest city.  You are therefore perfectly located for the cafes, shops and sightseeing - and time for all these activities has been built into the schedule.

The trip has been designed by Nordic Walking Girona (NWG) who will look after you throughout, leading you through the beautiful Spanish countryside and acting as a tour guide in Girona and the towns that you visit.  You will be Nordic walking round the lake of Banyoles, the largest natural lake in Catalonia; visiting Besalu, a beautiful medieval town; and Nordic walking through the old volcano crater of La Crosa, one of the largest volcanoes in Europe.  Click here to see photos montage of our October 2018 trip.

What some of of walkers from our last trip said:

"The hotel was central, so ideally placed. David was excellent as a guide and the whole trip was well organised so that everything was sorted for us - no thinking needed! Good combination of walks and sightseeing and a variety of restaurants and meal styles. We were very lucky as the whole group got on well together with no problems at all. The walks actually weren’t as long as I thought they might be, which was good as several had injuries going, and were done at a nice pace - holiday rather than workout."

"The place was lovely, hotel very comfy and central. It was well organised (so relaxing), the weather was rather great, food and wine delicious, lovely outings and walks, very friendly guests. The NWG people were brilliant, and Patsy looked after us very well, it was very relaxing and most enjoyable."

"Thank you very much for organising such a wonderful trip. It was a very magical holiday that will remain with me for a long time."
