"Despite being a keen walker, when I hit my mid forties I realised I needed to exercise more than just my legs which were pretty strong, but this was not the same from the waist up. However, a lifelong aversion to gyms and most sports had me in a quandary. Almost by accident I stumbled across Vicky on a stand at the Bristol Walking Festival and the more she talked about Nordic walking the more I realised this was exactly what I was looking for!
That was a year ago and the health benefits have been amazing. I've toned up my upper body including losing three inches round my waist, improved co ordination and gained a more positive attitude to life . Also a back problem due to work and a childhood foot problem, exacerbated by ordinary walking, have both improved more than I could ever have imagined! Not only have I enjoyed the health benefits but have also had so much fun meeting new interesting people that wouldn't normally fall within my social circle. I loved it so much that I am now a trained Nordic walking instructor!"
